The citizens group IMPACT is sponsoring two candidate forums for the upcoming Marietta city council and school board elections. On Tuesday, October 20th the organization will hold a forum for candidates running in the mayoral race and contested city council races. On Thursday, October 22nd a candidate forum will be held for contested Marietta School board seats. Both forums will be held from 7:00 – 9:00 pm in the Commission Meeting Room at 100 Cherokee Street. The Commission Meeting Room is located on the 2nd floor of Cobb County Building A.
The format will include a moderator and each answer will have a time limit. In addition, each candidate will be allowed to make an opening and closing statement. Written questions will be taken from the audience, and the event will be televised on Cobb government access channel, TV 23.
The Marietta mayoral candidates are William Bolton, Chris Neill, and Steve “Thunder” Tumlin,
City Council Ward 3 candidates are Holly Walquist (Incumbent) and Johnny Sinclair. Candidates in Ward 4 are Van Pearlberg (Incumbent) and Wes Godwin. Ward 5 candidates are Anthony Coleman (Incumbent), James Dodd and Christopher Johnson.
The City of Marietta School Board candidates for Ward 1 are Logan Weber and Robert “Bobby” Thanepohn. Ward 5 candidates are Stuart Fleming and Doug Martin. Ward 6 candidates are Michelle Kelly and Thomas Cheater.
IMPACT (Involved Mariettans Planning Actively for the City of Tomorrow) is a nonprofit citizens advocacy group whose mission is to represent residents and neighborhoods in Marietta in order to maintain and enhance the city’s quality of life.
